CLIFTON PARK – Runners, walkers and hikers can participate in the Good Karma 5K virtual run / walk from June 12-20 to help COVID-19 relief efforts around the world and hunger locally.

An informal yoga warm-up will take place on June 12 at 9 a.m. at The Crossings South Pavilion, followed by a 5k in the park for all registered virtual runners / walkers. The fundraiser is organized by Good Karma of the Capital Region in partnership with AIM for Seva USA and Sewa International. Around 5,000 people from 30 cities are expected.

Registration is $ 25 per person. Profits will support COVID relief efforts in India for medical oxygen and medical supplies through Sewa International and help alleviate hunger in our region through the Northeast Regional Food Bank of the State from New York. Last year, Good Karma donated $ 55,000 to AIM for Seva USA and Feeding America. This year, he hopes to raise $ 100,000.

Public hearing and education council meeting

EAST GREENBUSH – The East Greenbush School Board will be holding its public hearing and meeting at 7 p.m. on June 22.

Due to physical distancing guidelines, the public may attend the meeting as it is webcast live on the school district’s website, https://egcsd.org.

The superb Stoop promenade

ALBANY – A pole vault ride featuring a farmers market, live music, fresh flower arrangements for sale, and a scavenger hunt will be among the activities of the Stupendous Stoop Stroll from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on June 26 at various places in the city.

Participants will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite decorated stoop. The event is organized by the Historic Albany Foundation, the Center Square Association and the Hudson / Park Neighborhood Association.

The suggested donation to attend is $ 10. A printed program and map can be picked up at 235 Lark Street, across from Trinity Church.

Scholarship applicants wanted

BETHLEEM – Applications are accepted until July 9 for the Wendy Repass Suozzo Memorial Award by Friends of Five Rivers.

The $ 2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduate from Albany, Bethlehem, Guilderland, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk or Voorheesville who will attend a college of environmental studies or a closely related field including biology, chemistry , geology or
environmental law. The scholarship was created by the Repass Suozzo family in memory of the longtime educator who had a passion for nature.

An online guide for voters for the June 22 primary election was produced by the League of Women Voters of Saratoga County and is available starting Thursday, June 10.

Mayfield Historical Society Annual Concert

MAYFIELD – The Mayfield Historical Society’s third annual cruise, concert and ice cream social will take place July 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Rice Homestead, 328 Riceville Road.

Old and hot rod vehicles are welcome. Free entry. The door will open at 5:00 p.m. for vehicle installation. Alex Hitrick will be in concert on the lawn. Hot dogs will be sold. Tours of the farm will be offered.

Photography course for seniors approaches

Residents of Saratoga County aged 55 and over can take a free six-week virtual photography course.

“Photographing the Beauty Around Me” is designed to teach older people how to capture digital photographs. Participants will learn and hone basic skills for aiming and shooting. Classes are offered by the Saratoga County Office for Aging and will run from 2:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. on July 9, 16, 23 and 30, and August 6 and 15 via Zoom.

The material will be provided by the office before the start date of the course.
