She went inside, saw the husband with the gun, grabbed the kids and ran next door, where a neighbor called 911. The couple live with the on Johns Landing Way in a gated subdivision of large, two-story stucco homes. There have been no domestic-violence calls to the address, though a complaint about a loud party was re- ported last year, police said.

The relative also said there was no known history of violence between the couple. Just before the 7p.m. shooting, the baby sitter heard arguing in the family room because the wife wanted to go with her parents to New York, where her two brothers live, but her husband did not want her to go, authorities said. Police know whether that sparked the shooting. The Orange County Office on Saturday took over the investigation.
